Memoirs

The exhibition of artworks by young artists from the educational program of the Civic Initiative “UKRAINIAN STUDIES” (directed by Andriy Sendetskyy) is the result of an important creative experiment in which the authors sought to imaginatively recreate moments experienced back in their homeland, immersing themselves in memories that connect them to their Native Land. These artworks have become a unique bridge uniting the “pre-emigration” and “emigration” periods of their lives, even though the artists are only 7 to 12 years old.

The featured works on the theme of “Memoirs” serve as a visual marker of the culture of remembrance among the younger generation of Ukrainians who have arrived in Canada from across the ocean. They provide an eloquent way to foster cultural dialogue, not only among representatives of different waves of Ukrainian emigration but also within the broader multicultural environment.

This assignment is part of the comprehensive “UKRAINIAN STUDIES” curriculum (instructor Oleh Bolyuk), which is being implemented at the welcoming home of the Colonel Yevhen Konovalets Calgary Branch of the Ukrainian Youth Association in Canada.
